It's the emotion we spontaneously experience whenever we think the circumstances of our lives are favorable, in harmony, and pleasing to us. Whenever we "think" the circumstances of our life are favorable. We decide when we'll feel happy based on our perception.

Focus on what you appreciate.

As long as you are more aware of what you do not want regarding
a situation, what you do want cannot come to you.
Get your eyes, words, and thoughts off of "what is" 
and put them purely on what you want.
Anything that you do not want, you must take your attention from it.
With anything you don't love, simply turn away from it 
without judgement, and you won't include it in your life.
Are you choosing the things you love,
or are you too busy judging and labeling the bad things?
